A moped has been stolen last night from outside 11a silverdale avenue between 11-5. Has anyone got any cctv that could be checked? There is only one road in and out of Coton. The vehicle reg AV18XWW - silver grey Honda DCX

Please keep an eye out in case it’s been dumped somewhere and also make sure your belongings are safe as this was obviously planned and targeted a house is in a culdesac.

If anyone has any information about this, please get in touch.

Thank you for sharing x

I have had information that the moped was taken by 3 men at around 11.10/15 and wheeled up to the turning past the telephone box and flats on right of silverdale avenue behind the houses on whitewall way, pic of location in photo attached. Quite a few houses look out onto this turning. If anyone saw anything/ a van that was there at the time etc please can you get in touch.

Coton U12 Girls took to a rather muddy pitch this morning for one final league match before the Christmas break. Their opposition, a tough and well drilled Chesterton side who have only dropped points in one game all season. With just 5 performances together as a team, Coton’s focus today was to continue to build confidence on the ball, bring greater presence to the mid-field and play in a more aggressive and assertive manner. The 3-4-1 formation allowed the Girls to dominate midfield early, threading passes together and using changes in direction well to capitalising on the slippery surface. Two early shots on goal, by way of Shannon and Julie’s boots, tested the Chesterton Keep and put the team on the back foot. Shannon pounced on the end of a well struck corner from Hettie to put Coton ahead. At the other end, a flurry of desperate legs, bodies and goalie gloves prevented a certain goal as the ball ricocheted around the penalty box in the mud. As the half wore on, Chesterton grabbed one back with a drive down the middle to even up the match. This was short-lived however as Ari won the ball, slipped it out to Hettie, whose shot deflected off the Keep into Shannon’s path to nudge Coton back in front as the half came to an end.

Coton’s defense was tested early in the second half. Repelling a concerted barrage from Chesterton was Emma’s blinding speed outstripping any break-away’s, Ellen’s ever-faithful right boot, and some spectacular anticipation from Nat in goal as she surged out to stifle several attacks. The sustained pressure prevented us from playing our go-forward game and Chesterton seized the opportunity knocking in two swift goals, turning the game and putting them in front with 15 mins to play. Coton lifted the tempo with some lovely through-balls from Bryony, relentless pursuit of the ball by Shannon, with a shot on goal one minute and a goal line clearance the next, and some lovely juggling headers by Ari. Despite the pressure from Coton, Chesterton managed to sneak in a couple of goals in quick succession against the run of play to seal off the match with minutes to spare. Frustration for Coton as they’d come so close, but also real heart shown out on the pitch, demonstrating just how far the Girls have come in such a short time. What a positive and assertive performance against a top-notch side, and a great way to round out 2020. Well battled Girls!👍⚽️

The schemes are for students moving into sixth form and allow individuals the chance to study their choice of education subjects alongside daily training sessions and weekly matches. Our students are also encouraged to continue playing for their grassroots sides.
We are holding open training sessions to promote the two schemes next week.

Coton U11 Girls vs Cambridge City U11, Trumpington
Friendly

With Lockdown 2.0 looming, our U11 Girls jumped at the opportunity to take on Cambridge City in a friendly, for what is likely to be the last game of the year, but also proved to be the most memorable. A ‘top of the table’ clash, that, for both teams is the fixture we look out for with both excitement and trepidation at the start of the season. As is always the case when these teams meet, both sides expected fireworks, with each team sporting a plethora of quality and power.

Coton came out of the blocks hungry. Pressing strongly and putting City on the back foot, Coton fired off some early shots on goal through the boots of Juliet and India, winning an opening corner for their efforts. Juliet’s corner found Shannon on the volley with a tidy flick to beat the Keep and bring up Coton’s first. A second followed moments later with Shannon sniping a roll out and skilfully finding the net. Julie brought up a third with a storming run down the left to beat four and a cool placement in the bottom left – straight out of the previous night’s coaching playbook.

The tide began to turn as City started to claw themselves back into the match. At times a grinding arm wrestle, and at times beautiful, fast, free-flowing football. What was notable from the side-line was that neither side were backing down, and that every player was giving their all on attack and defense. A standout moment saw Bam let Shannon loose down the centre with an incisive ball, catching City on the back foot. Shannon surged forward with twin options on either flank. A delicate lay off to Sophie saw her shot deflected wide by the Keep.

Coming into the last phase of the game, a beautiful turn in front of the goal saw City level the game at 4 a piece. As both teams clamoured for the winner, the anticipation on and off the ground reached fever pitch. Finally, with seconds on the clock, Emily found Juliet down the left. Outstripping her opponent with sheer will and determination, Juliet launched a rocket from far outside the box and found the right bottom corner to seal Coton’s historic victory.

As the final whistle blew, and the players’ chanted ‘three cheers’ to each other, every Girl walked off the pitch knowing they’d faced their toughest opponent and that they’d done themselves and their teams proud. Heartfelt thanks must go to the City management and players for making this such a wonderful contest, and for giving the Girls’ a memory that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.👍⚽️

Coton U12 Girls vs PSG U12, Coton Rec

Our U12 Girls welcomed PSG to a leaf strewn Rec for a friendly this blustery Halloween morning. Their last encounter saw PSG come out strongly on top. Our Girls were determined to put all their hard work at training to the test and turn the tables on PSG, turning Trick into Treat.

As soon as the opening whistle blew, a foray up the field saw Shannon put an early shot on goal to test the PSG Keep. Unrattled, PSG struck back with a series of incisive passes down the middle, splicing apart the Coton defense and winning a corner. PSG whipped the ball into the Coton box. Coton desperately tried to clear the ball, however in the ensuing melee the ball fell to a PSG foot and was sunk into the back of the net. Moments later, Coton found themselves in an identical situation, and again the ball fell to a PSG foot and was tidied away into the goal. Some calming words from Coach Simon lifted our Girls heads back up and saw us begin to work for each other. A couple of driving runs from Julie down the left won a corner, Tess and Annie found space in the middle to put in some deft 1-2’s to generate ‘go forward’ ball, while Anais battled hard in the middle to drive the ball forward. The sustained pressure saw Hettie claim one back with a long range shot from outside the box just as the half time whistle blew.

The play in the second half increased in tempo as the hunger for an equaliser grew. India, leading by example, displayed some spectacular ball control to stand up 3 PSG midfielders and thread the ball through to Annie. A beautifully weighted lay-off found and advancing Shannon whose shot drifted tantalisingly close. Moments later, Shannon pounced on the Keep’s roll-out, stripping the PSG defender of the ball and calmly slotted it into the bottom right, levelling the match. The game rose to a frenzy, with PSG throwing everything at Coton in the last 15 mins with attack after attack being repelled by Emma’s blistering speed and Ellen’s fearless tackles. As the final whistle blew the heavens opened, drenching the Girls, but not wiping the smiles of their faces after such a thrilling and well fought draw. Well done Girls!👍⚽️
